Additionally, I had multiple horses with negative reactions to certain brands that ranged from sneezing profusely when products were sprayed near them to actual chemical burns. Some products that were marketed to be used for in barn fly spray systems even had warning labels that said specifically not to use them when anyone was in the barn... Interesting.

Even with all of that, these sprays barely worked. I thought there had to be a better, safer option to combat flies and after 15 years of researching fly repelling Ingredients and testing different formulas, I finally found the combination and percentages of oils that really worked.

Then I met my chemist who helped with the final formulation that Included the emulsifying and preservative components. During the process of finalizing the formula, my chemist had challenged my conviction of using food grade ingredients saying cosmetic grade would be good enough and a big step ahead of other products on the market. I felt very strongly that it had to be a safe product to be used in fly spray misting systems where the spray would land on hay and in water buckets as well as any people present. He agreed, adding that many of the cosmetic grade ingredients he could have used were banned in other countries and sited as having negative side effects...Shocker.

Next came testing the percentages of essential oils. We tested lower percentage levels of the oils and in different combinations to try to save in production costs, but eventually agreed to stick with the higher percentages favoring effectiveness over the cost savings.

We have now expanded our mission to bring safe effective products that address other common horse issues currently treated only by products that strip our horses skin of their natural protective oils, have scary warning labels saying not to get on your skin, or that can cause other serious health issues. We believe that we should not put anything on our horses that we wouldn’t use on ourselves as their skin absorbs just like ours.
